Electric Daisy Carnival in Sin City?

Every summer in Los Angeles, over 100,000 partygoers flock to the outrageously popular multi-day Electric Daisy Carnival. This year the event is relocating from Los Angeles to a desert site 14 miles from the Las Vegas strip, a move that raised eyebrows of officials in both cities. Sin City leaders are expecting an even bigger party, while those in L.A. are still sensitive about drug problems and arrests the Carnival experienced in 2010.
Mayor Oscar Goodman of Vegas welcomes the new event to the city, as he feels the added business is good for the city. However, many feel like he is turning a blind eye to the darker side of the rave. In 2010 a 15-year old girl died of an ecstasy overdose and over 200 others needed emergency medical treatment. Additionally, there were 114 arrests at the event.  The organizer, Pasquale Rotella, is making changes in 2011 to increase the safety of the party by implementing an age restriction and increasing security.

So why would one want to attend the Las Vegas blowout event in June?  Why not? If you love Electronic music, the Las Vegas EDC marks the end of a phenomenal tour making stops in Florida, Texas and Colorado. A few electronic music legends Tiesto, David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia are expected to pump up the crowd at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for EDC. Thinking of heading to EDC this summer? Connect with a travel friend and head out to Las Vegas for some great dance music. Also, while your in Vegas you might consider checking out the infamous wax museum Madame Tussauds.
